Zulu Mbaye is a Senegalese painter. He began to practice art in 1970 during the free workshops of Professor Pierre Lods he pursued for almost a decade. At the end of the 1970s he began to make tapestry models for the Senegalese Manufactures of Decorative Arts of Thies, and at the same time he participated in the second and third editions of the Salon des Artistes Sénégalais. Active figure in the cultural sphere, between 1987 and 1989 Mbaye is president of the National Association of Plastic Artists of Senegal. He exhibited at the first Dakar Biennial in 1992, during which time he began to show his works abroad, from Buenos Aires to Baltimore. He continues to exhibit in Senegal and elsewhere, whether in solo or group exhibitions. Mbaye lives and works in Dakar.
