La Mamounia - Dar Dada Stand 11 - La Mamounia Thursday January 30th, from 11 AM to 7 PM - Friday January 31th, from 11 AM to 7 PM, Saturday February 1st, from 11 AM to 7 PM, Sunday February 2nd, from 11 AM to 6 PM https://www.1-54.com/marrakech/

So Art Gallery is delighted to announce its participation in the upcoming edition of the 1-54 Marrakech Contemporary African Art Fair, which will take place from January 30 to February 2, 2025, at the prestigious La Mamounia Hotel. This edition promises to once again celebrate the richness and diversity of contemporary African art, and we are honored to be among the participating galleries. We look forward to welcoming you to booth 11 to discover an exceptional selection of works that showcase the vitality and commitment of three renowned artists: Adjei Tawiah, Aidan Marak, and Ange Dakouo.

This presentation highlights universal themes related to memory, heritage, and human stories. The artists, hailing from Ghana, Morocco, and Mali, bring unique perspectives on how personal and collective memories intertwine to shape our worldview. Through their works, they explore intimate and historical narratives while paying tribute to traditions and cultural identities.

Adjei Tawiah, a Ghanaian artist, celebrates camaraderie, family, and prominent public figures in his works. Using an innovative technique called "Sponge Martial," which involves nylon sponges, he symbolizes moments of purification and renewal. His vibrant and colorful creations reflect the light and vitality that emerge after dark periods.

Aidan Marak, a contemporary Moroccan artist, explores engaged themes such as freedom of expression, gender equality, and the reclaiming of traditional crafts. Her works capture the strength and emotion of women, resonating with contemporary African feminist struggles. By deconstructing established norms, Aidan invites the celebration of diversity and human resilience.

Ange Dakouo, a Malian artist, draws inspiration from traditional textile techniques and protective symbols to create "gris-gris," works that honor ancestral beliefs from West Africa. These unique creations, at the crossroads of art and ritual, evoke protective amulets and testify to the preservation of a rich cultural heritage.

Through this selection of works, So Art Gallery aims to offer an immersive and inspiring artistic experience. By celebrating traditions and narratives that, while distinct, find universal echoes, we hope to engage visitors in a reflection on their own heritage and the importance of memory in shaping our identities.

We look forward to sharing these visual stories and contributing to the creative energy of this new edition of the 1-54 Marrakech fair. We invite you to join us at booth 11 to discover these works and exchange with us.
